TT Cometus is a modern slab serif font. The name of the typeface evokes the image of a comet—a powerful and heavy celestial body with a beautiful tail cutting through space at incredible speed.
TT Cometus embodies a balanced personality: impressive and strong yet full of energy and dynamism. When designing this typeface, we aimed to combine the characteristic slab serifs with a modern and dynamic look. To achieve this, we blended sturdy details with completely contrasting shapes, adding a handcrafted feel and drawing inspiration from brush movements in calligraphy.
So, TT Cometus stands out with its sharp ends resembling a comet’s tail, particularly noticeable in the letters c, y, e, and t. Another interesting detail is the stylized joints of the arches and bowls, adding fluidity to the font. Additionally, the sturdy serifs of this typeface allow it to maintain stability. The font has a slight contrast between horizontal and vertical element weights and high contrast in the serifs, joints, and terminals.
The enhanced version of this typeface proudly features long-awaited Cyrillic alphabet support, new stylistic sets and OpenType features, completely redesigned kerning, and improved hinting.
TT Cometus shines best at large point sizes. This font is anything but neutral! It is eye-catching and looks perfect in headlines, logos, and branding—anywhere attention is needed.
The updated TT Cometus includes:
- 5 font styles: 4 upright and one variable font with a weight variation axis;
- 1000 characters in each font style;
- 33 OpenType features, counting in numerous ligatures and sets of alternate ampersand and letter g glyphs;
