TT Modernoir is a display sans serif font with dynamic proportions. The graceful lines and subtle Art Nouveau forms in this typeface blend seamlessly with the rhythmic flow and spontaneous freedom of jazz music. To design this font, we drew inspiration from 20th-century French typography and film noir aesthetics, which is reflected in its name.
The main feature of TT Modernoir is the significant difference in proportions between square and oval characters: the square characters are extremely narrow, and the ovals are very wide. The curved stems give the font an elegant appearance, and the dynamic swirls imbue it with a sense of rhythm and musical movement.
The font does not have lowercase characters, but we have added small caps to highlight prepositions, short words, and other text elements. To make the typeface look more balanced, you can use a stylistic set with narrow proportions for the oval characters. Conversely, the set with underlined characters will increase expressiveness when needed. The font also includes the so-called “swash set” with swirls on the letters “S” and “Z” and curved stems on “R” and “Я.”
A small set of icons can enhance your design, providing special black cats, heart-shaped arrows, and musical notes. Useful OpenType features and a variable font with a weight axis allow the typeface to adapt to various tasks.
TT Modernoir shines best at large point sizes. It excels on posters, signs, packaging, book and magazine covers, as well as in branding and logos.
